About the Company: One of the leading microfinance institution in India.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Risk Specialist will be responsible for leading and strengthening the organization’s risk management portfolio framework with microfinance and MSME business. The role will oversee credit, portfolio, operational and risk mechanisms, ensuring portfolio quality, regulatory compliance and sustainable growth. The incumbent will closely work with senior leadership, business, analytics, and compliance teams to proactively identify risks and enhance risk governance aligned with RBI and BFSI best practices.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Portfolio and Credit Risk Management:

  1. Lead end-to-end portfolio risk management for NBFC-MFI products, primarily JLG/ Group loans and individual micro loans.
  2. Monitor, analyse, and manage the quality of the merchant loans, MSME loans and MicroLAP portfolio, focusing intently on key metrics such as Portfolio at Risk (PAR) at 30, 60, and 90 days, collection efficiency, and non-performing asset (NPA) ratios.

Risk Framework & Strategy:

  1. Develop and enhance robust risk management frameworks, underwriting norms, and credit policies tailored to the microfinance segment.

Regulatory Compliance (as Business Correspondent):

  1. Ensure strict adherence to RBI Master Directions for microfinance & MSME, including borrower eligibility, income assessments, pricing caps and norms.
  2. Coordinate with compliance and audit teams for RBI inspections, statutory audits, and supervisory reviews.
  3. Monitor regulatory changes and assess impact on portfolio, credit policy and business processes.

Field Audit & Validation:

  1. Conduct regular field visits and audits to assess the effectiveness of credit processes and identify potential operational risks or fraudulent activities.

Position Requirements:

  1. Any graduation/ Post graduation preferable.
  2. Minimum 10 years of experience in risk control, risk management in microfinance/ MSME/ NBFC product experience.
  3. Working knowledge of MS-Excel and other MS-Office applications is mandatory and presentation skills will be added.
  4. Experience with Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) to identify and evaluate key risks, control effectiveness, potential gaps, and gaps remediation.
  5. Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
  6. Analytical skills and an eye for detail and Numerical skills.
