Job Overview:
The Credit Manager is responsible for evaluating credit proposals, assessing credit risk, approving within delegated authority, monitoring portfolio performance, and ensuring adherence to internal credit policies and regulatory guidelines. The role involves close coordination with sales, risk, operations, and collections teams to ensure asset quality and sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate credit proposals for working capital loans, term loans, and project finance.
- Conduct financial analysis of borrowers, including:
- Analysis of financial statements
- Ratio analysis and stress testing
- Assessment of repayment capacity
- Assess business model, industry risk, management quality, and promoter background.
- Prepare detailed credit appraisal notes and risk summaries.
- Approve/ recommend cases.
- Ensure compliance with internal credit policies, risk frameworks, and regulatory requirements (e.g., RBI, Companies Act, etc.).
- Identify early warning signals (EWS) and recommend corrective actions.
- Participate in the formulation and periodic review of credit policies and underwriting standards.
- Monitor portfolio performance, delinquency trends, and concentration risks.
- Review renewals, enhancements, and restructuring proposals.
- Coordinate with collections and recovery teams for accounts that are stressed or delinquent.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- MBA, Chartered Accountant (CA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), FRM.
- 3-5 years of experience in credit appraisal, risk, or underwriting, especially of SME loans.
- Experience in sectors such as solar, electric mobility and clean-tech is preferred.
- Experience in NBFCs, banks, credit funds, or fintech lenders.
- Strong analytical skills with an ability to work independently and in teams.
