About the Company: An EV startup.

Role Overview:

As a BIW Design Engineer – Static Structures, you will be responsible for converting CAS/Class-A surfaces into manufacturable, production-ready static body and BIW components.

This role focuses on structural integrity, manufacturability, tolerances, and cost efficiency, while working closely with simulation and manufacturing teams to close the design-to-production loop.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Convert CAS/Class-A surfaces into production-ready static BIW and body components.
  2. Design BIW and non-moving body structures, including floors, cross-members, pillars, roof structures, and reinforcements, in accordance with strength and durability requirements.
  3. Ensure manufacturability, tolerances, and joining feasibility.
  4. Coordinate with simulation and manufacturing teams to validate designs.
  5. Support tooling, fixtures, and production discussions.
  6. Work with sheet metal, composites, or structural plastics depending on vehicle architecture.
  7. Address GD&T, DFMEA, and design standards relevant to BIW development.
  8. Resolve build and assembly issues identified during prototype and trial builds.
  9. Maintain CAD release discipline, version control, and documentation.
  10. Support cost and weight optimization without compromising structural integrity.

What You’ll Work On:

  1. Static BIW structures for a modular EV platform.
  2. Production-feasible body components optimized for cost and weight.
  3. Design iterations driven by build, tooling, and validation feedback.
  4. Close collaboration with CAE and manufacturing during scale-up.

Requirements:

  1. B.Tech/B.E. – Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  2. 2–3 years of experience in BIW or automotive body design.
  3. Prior exposure to OEM or Tier-1 development environments preferred.
  4. Strong understanding of BIW structures and body architecture.
  5. Knowledge of sheet metal, composites, or structural plastics.
  6. Familiarity with DFMEA, GD&T, and automotive standards.
  7. Strong CAD skills in CATIA and SolidWorks.
